Monopoly Mandalorian 2.0
Project Overview
As the Lead Senior Graphic Designer for the Monopoly: The Mandalorian 2nd Edition, I directed the creative evolution of the series, moving from the rugged "carbonite" look of the original to a sophisticated, armor-inspired aesthetic. My vision for this edition was to create a package that felt as if it were forged directly from Mando’s own Beskar armor. Working in close collaboration with Lucasfilm, I managed the end-to-end process of gathering high-fidelity references and securing approvals for every technical detail. I designed the sleeve and inner box to function as a seamless visual experience; the textures, panel lines, and metallic sheen were meticulously crafted to mimic the iconic plates of the Mandalorian’s suit. This "armor-clad" approach resulted in a sleek, high-end collector’s item that feels like a physical extension of the character’s identity.

For the Monopoly: The Mandalorian 2nd Edition sleeve, I wanted the player to feel like they were holding a piece of the creed. I designed the outer wrap to function as a detailed reconstruction of Mando’s Beskar armor, incorporating the signature panel lines, rivets, and plating that define his iconic silhouette. To add a layer of narrative depth, I treated the side panels as the armor's integrated tech systems in an "off state." By using a muted, dark aesthetic on these sections, I simulated the look of powered-down electronics and HUD components. This contrast not only highlights the brilliant, metallic sheen of the Beskar surfaces but also reinforces the idea that the box is a functional piece of gear waiting to be activated. The result is a sophisticated, 360-degree design that prioritizes mechanical realism and premium craftsmanship.

I designed this transition to feel like a diagnostic boot-up of Mando’s suit. On this inner layer, I "flipped the switch" on the tech components, adding vibrant light-up effects, glowing HUD elements, and illuminated circuitry. By maintaining the exact structural layout between the sleeve and the box but shifting from a dark "off state" to a brilliant "on state," I created a cinematic reveal that rewards the fan with a high-tech, immersive experience that brings the Mandalorian's armor to life.

By combining the "power-on" visual reveal with this tactile, three-dimensional surface, I created a multi-sensory experience for the collector. The sculpture emboss ensures that the armor doesn't just look authentic—it feels like a forged, physical object. This final layer of craftsmanship was the key to bridging the gap between a board game and a premium cinematic artifact, providing a level of detail that honors the high production standards of the series itself.
