Monopoly: Pokémon, I pioneered the visual evolution of this iconic collaboration from initial concept to final production art. I served as the primary creative bridge to The Pokémon Company, building a high-trust partnership that allowed us to push the boundaries of the brand’s traditional tabletop aesthetic.
By earning the full confidence of their global creative team, I was able to direct a bold new direction that prioritized fan immersion and brand authenticity. The result is a fully integrated IP experience where every component—from the custom board to the unique iconography—was designed to make players feel they are truly capturing Pokémon, resulting in one of the most cohesive and beautiful licensed editions in the franchise's history.

To showcase the game’s stunning landscape art, I reimagined the iconic Monopoly board as an immersive journey through the Pokémon world. I designed the property and location track to function as a visual narrative, where each color-coded set represents a distinct elemental type and its unique environment.
By prioritizing sprawling, high-fidelity environmental art over traditional iconography, I ensured that every space on the board feels like a discovery. As players move around the track, the design reinforces the sensation of exploring and catching Pokémon, making the act of collecting properties feel like a true adventure through a fully integrated, beautiful ecosystem.

For the centerpiece, I designed a sprawling, panoramic map that serves as the visual heart of the game. Moving away from static graphics, I created a vibrant, living landscape that captures the scale of the Pokémon world. I meticulously integrated every elemental type—from volcanic peaks to lush forests—ensuring the center art felt like a cohesive, immersive ecosystem.

In designing the character cards, my goal was to treat every Pokémon as the star. The challenge was balancing high-fidelity character art with essential mechanical UI. By carefully layering the interface, I created a clean, intuitive layout where captured Pokémon 'live' together, making it easy to track progress while keeping the visual impact front and center.

We expanded the roster to 48 Pokémon across 8 types. To maintain board clarity at this scale, I color-coded every Location space and Chip to match its elemental type. This strategic design choice ensures instant recognition while capturing the true spirit of discovery—making every roll feel like a step into the tall grass to find something new.
